Third Annual All-Camp BBQ!

May 18th - All Camp BBQ (rain or shine)

We hope you'll be able to join us for the 3rd annual event which will be held on May 18th rain or shine. The event will begin with Friends Meeting at 9:30 with activity periods and a barbecue lunch. We'll end the day with a closing campfire with marshmallow roasting and s'mores. Last year's event brought together alums from many different generations and gave many of us a chance to catch up with old friends, revisit old memories, and see the changes to the CDW facilities. We're hoping that this year's event will be even bigger. To register for the barbecue please send an email with your name and the size of your party. There is no registration fee but there is a suggested minimum donation of $5 per person to help cover the day's cost and to support camp operations.

If you won't be able to come to the BBQ, but would still like to show your support as a Camp Dark Waters Alumni, please consider making a tax-deductible donation in any amount. This will help defray event costs and support the operating funds of camp this year and in years to come.

We look forward to seeing you on May 18th! Please help us spread the word.

- Dave Goldberg (for the CDW alumni association)

CDW Alumni Program & Alumni Contact Form

Camp Dark Waters has always known our alumni were good people and have held their CDW experiences close to their heart.

Encouraged by the overwhelming support we received from our alumni, we have formed the Camp Dark Waters Alumni Association. The Association's goals include assisting the camp in:

  • Database building (see below)
  • Archiving camp history
  • Reunion planning
  • Administration of the Dark Waters Scholarship Fund
  • Work Weekends
  • Annual Projects
  • And More!
We are working hard to reconnect 'lost' members of our Camp Family. Please visit our Alumni Contact Form, complete it, and let us know how you're doing!

BOOK AVAILABLE

Wilbert Braxton’s book of memoirs, This I Remember, has been published with delightful wit and insight and stories from his experiences as a Quaker school teacher and headmaster and as a camp director at camp Onas and CDW.

Wilbert and Nina directed CDW various summers from ‘59-62 and for some time prior to ’59. The book is available from Lowell P. Braxton, 3666 Millbrook Ter., Salt Lake City, UT 84106 for $17, incl. S&H.

It was a time when there was something truly magical about Friends meeting; when the small wooden footbridge on the way to the Dell was, although just a small wooden footbridge on any other day, on Sunday the boundary of a whole separate world; when I really believed that if I spoke after crossing it I would throw something terribly off-balance in the order of the entire natural universe; when the peace I found there didn’t have to end when friendly handshakes made their way around the log benches, and I crossed back over that footbridge refreshed and ready for the week.
